I attended a free 2 hour bike maintenance course run by Evans Cycles tonight (Kingston Branch). Covered basic things like fixing punctures,wheel removal, adjusting brakes and gears, cleaning and looking for wear.
I thought it was an excellent course which I would highly recommend. There were only 5 people on the course so plenty of chances to ask questions.
I believe most Evans' run them a couple of evenings a month.
Oh, and did I mention it was free
