Barnet,
Now i know there have been many posts about Evans, some good, some bad. But today I went to the Hendon branch to have a look at the new Bianchi Sempra which i have sort of promised myself as a new year treat. It is on their web pages as in stock and available. Apparently not in this store, or any other except Milton Keynes which had one, but not my size. The sales person tried to show me the Via Nerone and the Pinnacle range which Evans are trying to push, but could not show me what i wanted to see. I really should of know better I suppose, but as they could not show me what I wanted, how many others like me are turned away without what they wanted?

I tried Evans in Manchester and was not impressed, no discount and tried to sell me something else, I was after the sirrus comp at £700 and they tried to push me towards a cannondale bad boy for 1k that they were trying to get shut of by the look of things.....

ended up back at my lbs, got my sirrus for £700 with about £100s worth of bits included - computer, cage, bottle, pump etc etc....

I am sure people have a good experience with Evans but I won't be rushing back.

Yeah, I wasn't overly impressed with the one in Reading. A bit far from me but JE James in Rotherham (where I got my Bianchi) was fantastic and the complete opposite of the Evans stores I've visited.

Did you phone the store first to see if they had it in stock?
Ask them to order it in for you. You'll have to pay a £50 refundable deposit but they should have it within a couple of days.

I think it depends on which staff you get at which Evans. The Chiswick and my local Brentford one have a few very good members of staff who have helped me out a few times and will look after you well. They may be limited by what they can do price wise but they always do their best.

I tend to treat Evans as a good place to get something quickly and easily. If they have what I want/need then I'll happily use them, and get them to price match at the same time.

I think you need to phone them about what bike you want to see / test ride it so they will order a bike from their warehouse for you to have a look and test ride it. That is what written on their website. At first I didn't about it and the staff told me about it so I told them to order the bike I want from warehouse.

I'd like to say fair play to Evans for having a community manager on the payroll who is responding to stuff on forums, it's forward-thinking and I welcome it. As you'll see in other comments I've had a mixed experience of Evans and am happy to be vocal about it, and forum users (myself included) love a whinge.

Welcome along Balint, from my point of view, I may have the odd rant about the service I get at Evans, but I don't expect you to have to respond to my every whinge.

I've used Evans loads & always found the staff to be very helpful, both the shops & head office.

I popped in to Brighton late Sunday with a wheel that had a knackered freehub after only 200 miles (not mentioning any names!) The staff were helpful. It coudn't be resolved there & then but I received a call today to let me know that it was being dealt with so now I'm waiting on a call tomorrow with an update & I know they will call.

A lot of places would keep you in the dark regarding this sort of issue & only tell you they had the part in when it was too late to do anything about it that day.

As for stock, there's nothing on the website to indicate the stock levels are for a particular store so it's a bit unrealistic to expect the store to have every colour & size variant in stock.

Oh, does anyone know if the stores accept a copy of the free innertube voucher from this months CA??
