I'm sure that must be a huge comfort to all the dead drivers and passengers.
You mean the many fewer dead drivers and passengers than any other auto manufacturer? Have you *seen* how dangerous those ICE cars are?

Tesla death rate is 41 per million registered years. Nissan Altima 113 per million. Mitsubishi mirage 205 with a further 183 for the hatchback. Why aren't these death machines being recalled?

There is a website that lists every Tesla crash that resulted in a death. Can you find me one for *any* other manufacturer?

Id forgotten the crash per mile is so much worse for non autopilot vehicles.

The difference between the naysayers and owners of Tesla cars, is that we know the car has deficiencies, accept them, enjoy the EV experience.

Without getting into all the other arguments, why would you pay £45k+ for a Model 3 (or much more for the bigger models) and just accept the deficiencies? Having paid that much, I'd want them to be sorted immediately (or not been present in the first place).

I suppose, its expectations, I realise the car isn't perfect, no vehicle ever is. I didnt buy it our Teslas primarily for autopilot, I bought them for being an EV, performance, range, charging network and the app functionality.

In fact anyone who asks me about buying a new Tesla, I tell them not to bother with anything more than the built in standard auto-pilot. The standard version is very good, not perfect (so expect it to have a few quirks), it does a great job as an extra backup when driving. Its looking at 4 sides of the vehicle simultaneously whilst in motion.

Because you are applying the process of buying a car to buying a computer with wheels. 99% of the deficiencies are just software, and the software gets updated all the time. Rarely there will be a mechanical issue such as the aforementioned wishbones, but most of the "issues" reported in the press are really non-issues.

Have they reported on the deaths of that Tesla that we saw on CCTV blasting through a Parisian Street last year ? What was the story there in the end ?

I don't know the situation. Invariably it's usually the driver pressing the wrong pedal. You see so many drivers (YouTube), mostly elderly or nervous users who get it so wrong and launch a vehicle at high speed.

This is two of the hundreds of recorded clips

I expect it will be to do with the driver - it usually is.
A few years ago on a 30mph road 5 people were killed in a crash where a Renault Megane ran out of control. Killed three people in that car and a child and her nan in the car that it hit. Apparently the driver had had a seizure resulting in him flooring the accelerator. Awful incident.

What kind of unit of measure is that? death rate per 1000 miles perhaps would be meaningful

I think its deaths per million miles covered by the vehicle for each manufacturer. I suppose it could be further broken down to each model of car.

The insurance industry will have these figures, as well as age and sex accident/casualty. Thats why certain vehicles are more expensive to insure.

Certain makes having reputation for drivers being higher risk, BMW man, Audi etc. there are others too

Thank you for confirmation

I used to own a BMW, I really noticed the transformation in my driving when I moved to a Mazda. ;)
