I have been putting some thought into this and it sounds totally amazing, i do hoever have a couple of perhaps stupid questions, how do you got there, by car/ferry the best option?

Fife to ferry about 3 hours. The sea route Stranraer to Belfast takes 2 or 3 hours depending on which ferry and then 250 mile drive to Ennis.

Motorway from Belfast to Dublin (M1) cross country from there.

I've signed up for this one. I can fit in a family visit to my brother near Sligo and then we are going to make a week-end of it somewhere close to Ennis - possibly Galway. I'll be travelling Troon to Larne - it's a fairly short crossing and has the big advantage of a much smaller ferry, so loading/unloading is fairly quick.

Any one thinking of doing the Etape Hibernia? 84 miles of fantastic [closed] road cycling along one of Ireland's most beautiful coastlines.

So, are you thinking of doing it HJ? Or just "throwing it out there"?

Aye, I am going it as Scooshies pace maker, of course I will have to use a lighter bike to match the weight of his and leave the 10kg panniers behind so that he feel bad about not keeping up ;)
