Can we organise some cyclechat teams? I personally am aiming for under 4.5 hours. Anyone interested in creating 'CycleChat4.5'?

I'd certainly consider it mate as I'm going for the same time as you and don't want to be held up with a late starting time. It sounds great in theory but in practice may be difficult to maintain for the 81 miles due to possible traffic. I'm challenging myself to this as I currently average about 17mph and we would have to average 20mph for 4.5hrs inc stops. I am training though and hope to get my average to 18mph or more so when in a group that should jump to about the 20 mark.
Are you going to Noodleys recce run on 11 April?

Well that's two, need three more. Have you done the route/event before kfinlay? I have and the congestion wasn't too bad, things tend to string out a bit after the start - it all helps with windbreak anyway!

With your solo averages I think you are well on track. I am only averaging about 14.5 mph on rides just now but that's due to the bike and routes.

On two recce rides last year (solo) I got round in just under 5h. On the day my official time was 5h0m49s with 1 puncture, 8 miles cut of the course and a long wait while the race was suspended. I could have been quite close to 4.5h.

I'll try and make the 11th April recce so we can meet. I'm training in the Glasgow area, you?

If you are short of members I'll help out, however, I fear I would drag the time down considerably. Best to hold out for the whippets!

Hey Viniga,
I've not done the Etape before or any ride mre than 38 miles (mainly due to not being comfortable in the saddle but that is getting better all the time). Had planned about a 45 mile ride on Saturday but weather was bad so did 2x20 interval training instead. I'm not worried about the route b ut just want to do it in April so theres no surprises and should help me pace myself properly. Hopefully we get a few more to make up the numbers but if not it should still be a great day.

Hey kfinlay, doh I guess I missed your subject line! Interestingly I did a similar progression of sportives last year.

The weather has been poor. Longest ride this year for me has been just over 60 miles. Most between 30 and 40.

Not too many others interested it seems, if it continues to go this way we could just form an all comers cyclechat team even if we don't all get round together. It's all about fun in the end.
