Needed a project bike for this Autumns Eroica and found this in the local classifieds:

The owner thought it was from around 1983ish ?

Clearly the groupeset has been replaced with a mish-mash but I’m not too worried about that. Also I’m pretty sure the bottle bosses have been DIY’d.

Any ideas beyond the brand ?

Was going to say the chain set and rear mech is just outside the 'rules'. My road bike is a 1990 and I can't ride it in an event. Maybe the date needs to roll like the years slightly... 8 Speed SIS Dura Ace Down Tube shifters is way to modern...still...

If it is 1983, then I reckon it's a Treviso.

The 3 top tube cable guides and the painted, pantographed seat stay tops rule out some of the other models in the 1983 catalogue. The pics are a bit grainy (if only we had Bladerunner's 'Zoom, Enhance'...) but it looks like the remains of RE of Treviso on the top tube decal. Equally, it doesn't look like it could be the RECORD SPECIAL of the same year as there's not enough room for the word 'special' or the TRE CIME from 1982, though they were both Columbus SL tubes. 1980s Pinarello decals are notoriously bad, so don't be discouraged by that!

Here's the Trevio from the 1983 catalogue.

That is looking very close indeed !

The down tube bottle cage bosses on mine are diy and like the pic above it has top mounted/top tube cabling. I will take some more detailed pics

I reckon it’s quite a bit later than was advertised though, perhaps more like late 80’s.

Brazed on FD bracket:

I guess the Suntour groupeset isn’t original ? And certainly not as a triple.

Had to look up the quoted 6.1.b Eroica reference and it does seem like it will be fine, chuffing long drive otherwise🤣

Thinking overall:

1) keep the saddle (pretty sure it’s the original)
2) then white saddle mean white bar tape
3) which ideally means white brake and gear cable outers
4) tan coloured brake hoods
5) Some tan wall tyres, thinking 26-28mm if i can get them on those rims safely ?

Anything else beyond growing a handlebar moustache ?

What are the rims and hubs?
Think rims will have IRW of 14mm so 28mm tyres is iaw Sheldon x2 max multiple.
Idc I'd slack off the spokes a couple of turns and do a 'rebuild' (with stress relieving). You don't know how many thousand km the wheels have rolled. Also careful inspection of the rear RHS spokes for any chain/cage damage.
Shifting will be better (if desired) if you fit a 'new' 6 speed freewheel (with 'twisted' tooth profiles).

Suggest headset offers a date bracket too.
C-Record (Corsa Record) - Record Groupset items produced between 1985 and 1990.
Headset - Generic Chorus/Record square nut with holes in upper race.
Maybe these:

That looks lovely and practically l'Eroica-ready as-is, and will be perfect once you've ticked off the few things on your list and AB's wheel check/rebuild if in doubt.

I dare say there are better-rolling 28mm tanwall clinchers, but I've never had a problem or a p-word with Panaracer Pasela Protite 28mm on any Eroica. They've coped with everything from the aggressive gravel in the heat in 2022 (?) to the mud-fest last year with enough grip for all of them.

Look forward to seeing you in October. I'll be #531 chugging around on a green Curly Hetchins ^_^
