Erm, I need to ask a route question but I'm not sure where to put it.

Evenin all,
I think I'll ask this here as I don't know where else to the mods can always move it and berate me if they wish.

Thing is, I'm trying to plan a cycle route out of Worcestor Park, Surrey with another forum member which takes in a nice country pub and no matter which way I google the route it only seems to come up with options for driving also Sustrans does not seem to have it.

Avoiding very main roads what is the best way from Worcestor Park Stn to The Plough Public House, Plough Lane, Oxshott nr Cobham?

Alternatively if you know of another route which is roughly a 25 mile round trip all in all which takes in a similar country pub please let me know.
In any event the starting and ending point is likely to be Worcestor Park Station.

I'd suggest using one of the many GPS drawing sites such as ridewithgps.com or bikeroutetoaster.com. You'll be able to draw a route on there and if you don't have a GPS you can just print the cue sheet.

Ah yes well I would be doing that to be sure but the thing is that the maps which were sold as 2011 atlases were all printed in 2009 which means that some of the routes may have changed also road atlases tend to be designed for car drivers.

Hence my enquiry of the cyclists on the cycling forum for a cycle route.

Use Google and click on the walking man symbol which will give you a walking route which gives the shortest possible route, then drag the route too suit where you actually want to get to (i.e. The pub)!

Then you want to consult the OS 1:50,000 maps, easily accessible &searchp=ids.srf&mapp=map.srf"]here (though this site won't do routing, you can decide for yourself from the look of the roads - if you want to avoid main roads, choose the yellow or white ones). Seriously, unless you're planning a long journey, it's easier to make up your own mind from looking at a map than use a routing site - and you'll get more info on terrain, contours etc on an OS map than, say, a google one. You get the best of both worlds on this website.

I and many others on here have managed to tour all over Europe and the UK using pages torn out out of road atlases. It works

Go out through Epsom - A240, Horton, Epsom Common, Oxshott? Mapquest is quite good for multiple options. Never cycled it but it's the way I would drive
...otherwise out to Dorking, Headley, Boxhill blah..I recently rode from Sutton to Dorking, but I just went on the A24, scary, big fast roads!

Look on a map

This is also a good source for ride suggestions...

Have a play with bikehike as it will let you plan out routes looking at google, opencyclemap and os maps. You may need to wait until after midnight now for the os maps though as the site tends to hit it's maximum number of os tile downloads about 10pm.

Another good site for plotting routes can be 'Where's the Path?' if you are going off-road where the auto routing sites tend not to be able to route.
