Need to get a new pair for my Cannondale St Prestige. I have large hands but can only seem to see small versions. Am I missing the wood for the trees? Tried fleabay to no avail.

I'm sorry, how much for grips! Do they make much of a difference beyond that of a good pair of gloves (which I could buy along with some good grips and still have change for a pint or three)

Ergonomically speaking Mark, they are quite different indeed to to standard grips and a pair of gloves. The ones I have now on the C'dale are £19.95 with end caps. Remembering from days gone by how uncomfortable I found straight bar grips after a long ride; I can truthfully say they are worth their weight and shape in gold …to me at any rate. Hence why I asked about a replacement like for like. In the days of carpel Tunnel syndrome and compressed fibres and nerves generally, it makes sense to me to go with a grip that actually does make a difference.

Having tried a quick ride round the block on a bike with bog standard straight grips, I can hand on heart say I'd not ever be without the shaped Ergon's from here on in. Prices vary depending on type, mine are just quite standard and cheap for what they are. Size was my problem as my hands are unusually large for my build.

I've been using a set of Ergon GP1's for a few months, they seem very comfortable with a good reduction in hand pain. Gloves wear out quicker than grips so a good investment I thought.

EBC also do their own Revolution ergo grips for a lot less.

They do, and usually EBC's Revolution stuff is very good quality.

But, the ergo grips were disappointing. They were no different from normal grips, but with more rubber on them.

I've got the GP1 (entry level Ergon) and it's far superior to EBC's Revolution. For once, branded stuff was worth the xtra layout.

I bought the grips and bar ends from Lidl for £8 earlier this year (pictured on Alembicbassman 's bike here). I've never used ergonomic grips before but after putting these on my bike, I'll never stick with normal handlebar grips again, as these are so much more comfortable.

Fair play. I guess a case of don't knock it 'til you've tried it then. I do have a set of straight bars on my '96 Kona and find my hands start to numb on longer rides. I was thinking about some stubby bar ends but perhaps these are an alternative.

New GP1's for large hands duly fitted. Perfeck!

The negative is the sticky rubber grip area, and even with careful non detergent cleaning gets very sticky. Ahhh thought to self ; maybe it's supposed to, so hands stay put! and being second hand, of course previous owner could have used detergent. Back to bed with you Mozzy and take some pills, think it out first.
