How do the ERD measurements of Mavic Open Pro rims compare to Rigida Chrina? The web seems to have a number of differeny measurements for each.

I currently have Chrina rims but have had trouble with the eyelets coming out so want to do a straight swap for something else but without the hassle and expense of buying new spokes which would cost an additional £60

I'm seeing 603 and 602 respectively. Can't say i have experience with either of those rims.

I was going to use the Mavic Open Pro for a single speed project, as they look the business. But went with a cheaper option.

I've seen 603-608 for Chrinas. Mavic's quoted ERDs are known to be slightly out due to the way Mavic measure it. I also like the Open Pros but a few things put me off in the past (price, previous very poor mavic customer service, reports of mavic rims cracking, and a common problem of something coming loose inside open pros rims and constantly rattling) so I went with cheaper Rigida rims which got good reviews, however, as I said, the eyelets have started to pull through making the wheel constantly need truing so I'm regreting my decision to buy them now!

so what are you going to do? Risk it.

I guess you could just get bigger nipples if you find you need an extra couple of mm's. I personally think large nipples on a road wheel look wrong.

I'm still thinking about this - worst case is that if I buy open pros and the ERD is different I'll need to buy new spokes too, adding about £60 to the bill which will already be £90. A Campagnolo Scirocco wheelset can be bought for £180 so I'm not sure spending £150 to fix my wheels is worth while, so whether I have to replace the spokes makes all the difference.

I'm still using the Chrina rims at the moment but having to true them after every two rides or so. I'm thinking that once all the eyelets have settled it might be okay; although the wheel might just collapse completely then! At the moment only about one quarter of the eyelets have pulled out so a long way to go yet! The eyelets seems to pull out by 1-2mm and then stop so it might all settle down one day. Wouldn't buy these rims again and possibly not any Rigida rims, although my Rigida Sputnik rims have been very good.
