"An easy-going 100km spring ride to a couple of pubs and maybe a couple of others for coffee. Or tea. ....... There will be cake at the finish.
The route has a flat start to a couple of leg-warming climbs to the first pub stop at The Tally Ho in Barkway. You then head along winding lanes with wide-open views to the historic town of Saffron Walden where there are plenty of hostelries of all kinds to divert you. Passing through you continue to Withersfield for the second official pub stop at The White Horse (recently renamed Bradnam's). Then it's an up-and-over back to Cambridge, including an 8km descent from Balsham to Fulbourn. Cambridge is 50 minutes from London by train and most East Anglia rail services also pass this way."
It might be a different customer base, but it's the same thing, just that audax is friendly and co-operative rather than competitive.
