English/Italian Bottom bracket Thread?

Got the old bottom bracket out.Took it to LBS but they didnt have a suitable replacement and would take a week so trying to locate one. Its a Truvativ GXP bottom bracket with Truvativ Elita Crank set.on a Scott Speedster Road bike.

My original q was ref the threads but I have sussed that its English BSA now so edited the post.



The culprit was about an egg cup of rusty water sloshing round in the bottom bracket part of the frame.Think I will take it out and clean in there now and then in future.

PS have sourced one in our local Halfords. Will get it tommorow, the pic on Halfords website shows it with two black washers, not sure if these are spacers or for sealing it but there werent any on the one I took off. Any idea wether I should fit them or not?Also on reassembly should I smear grease on the crank spindle?

No spacers. Plenty of grease.

Water most likely down from the seat post. Liberal grease, carbon or not.

PS .Fitted new one this morning greased everything running very sweet now.
