Not quite sure I understand how Endomondo calculates calories.

I've got a short commute to work - if I walk the app says I burn 160 calories, but if I cycle it the app says 60 calories. So according to Endomondo by cycling to work and back I'm burning 200 less calories a day than I was before therefore going to get fatter.

This surely has to be wrong ????

I suppose by walking you're supporting your own weight instead of the bike supporting you...

And I suppose it matters on how fast you cycle. A leisurely mooch on the bike will still be quicker than walking but invariable won't take much effort.

How long does it take you to walk, and how long to cycle?

With calorie burn, and assuming you're not cycling hell for leather, it's often more to do with duration than mode (within certain parameters of course).

Walking is about 25 minutes, bike is between 9-10 depending on traffic (usually pretty heavy)
Main reason for the cycling was too loose a bit of weight - looks like it may have the opposite effect

What's the point of cycling for 9-10 mins?
Extend your commute man and burn a few more calories.

I'm pretty sure its due to the time
cycling 1 mile and walking 1 mile would mean more calories burnt walking
cycling for 10 minutes and walking for 10 minutes would mean more calories cycling
