Had a great day cycling today (mostly), with a couple of improvements.

Went out through Elmdon, Eastcote, Barston, Berkswell to Meriden. Then back again through Hampton upto Elmdon again.

Total mileage from the GPS computer said 24 mile in total, so really pleased with that (first time over 20) plus it had a max speed of over 20mph - both of these are personal bests but the average speed was still fairly low as we don't exactly go racing along normally. I'm more interested in extending the range. Had one visit from the p*ncture fairy on Mrs RH's back tyre, but can't complain as it's the first one she's had since we started riding, fitted the emergency tube (£1.98 from tesco!) and carried on, stopping for a drink on the way back. And many thanks to the roadie who took the time to stop to ask if we needed help with the flat, much appreciated.

Took this picture when we were just a couple of mile away from home.

Anyone else have a good one today?

Yes thankyou, it was a very good day to be out and about on two wheels.

If you keep enjoying it then you're doing something right.

Good innit? ;)

Your doing the right thing rh building on your mileage first before even thinking about average speeds, and most of all your enjoying it! Well done to you and the mrs!

Also had a good day with other half in the Sussex countryside. It would be so good if we could manage life without a car but sadly in a small village where there are no othere means of transport, there is not another solution.
Anyway i expect we will be out again today ?

Sounds very nice. :birthday:

I plotted this route for someone on BikeRadar - ColinJ's loop for Scottie from Water Orton. You might like to have a go at some or all of that when your range has extended further. It passes close to Meriden.

That looks like a good route, I'm familiar with the main roads through the back of Coleshill and Water Orton, nice bit of country side, will keep that one in mind, thanks.

yes, we have to keep a car as well simply because it's practical, however we have just this week took the 2nd car off the road.

Not sure if we will get out on the bikes today as other stuff to do (including recovering from yesterday  ), but have a good trip if you go back out.

Well done rh : )

Is that Elmdon Park in your photo? I had lodgings around there when I was a student - many decades ago.

I had a good run yesterday - 16.7 miles - my longest to date as well.
There seemed to be plenty of cyclists out out and about.

Well done on the 16 miler, it feels great when you get a personal best doesn't it?

yes it is Elmdon park, at the top of the hill as you come out from by the church car park, it's a nice way to return back to the city after a ride
