Hopefully going to see this Merckx on Saturday anybody know a website where I can understand the frame number shown .

Ps the rear wheel is not in square

Indeed, but that was before he retired and set up his own bike factory.

My Strada OS (Columbus Brain tubing) is the best road racing frame I've ridden. They are a bit quirky: Italian BBs and horizontal dropouts even in the mid-90s, but beautifully finished with little EM or Eddy Merckx engravings, and drippings of chrome. They're basically Italian bikes made in Belgium!

Well I went and had a look and had a run on it mounted on the sellers turbo and all worked well .

Paintwork is non original but tidy enough shame about the non original fork .

All seemed ok so we bought it home along with a spare set of wheels .

I am the 3 rd owner the previous 2 both raced on it and it was originally built in 1987/8 so ties in with frame number , originally blue in colour with matching forks and had a Columbus decal but neither can remember what grade it was .

Just need to give it some miles now .

Forks are easy to get hold of but maybe not in that length. 58 or 59cm frame?

Marked with a 6 or 9 depending upon which way round you have it but not actually measured it yet
