On the averatge day I'll be wearing about £1,500 worth of jewellery (watch £800, ring £700). Depending on which ring I am wearing, I can have about £25,000 worth of jewellery on (two rings and a watch) but they are relatively understated and unlikely to catch the attention of muggers.

I rarely wear gold - I prefer silver or platinum. Most of the value of the rings is in the stones rather than the metal.

And I think you may have tried to call me a champagne socialist recently. Utterly out of touch, utterly laughable .

Well, I can feel sorry for him, but leaving 80 grand in a bag on the roof of your car is a pretty bloody stupid thing to do. Carrying your entire life savings around with you in the first place is a bit daft.

Absolutely. However some people don't trust banks.

Not really, I was commenting how utterly out of touch you are.

I'm surprised Bernie didn't have some bodyguards, when you (fairly often) see pictures of him he does. He is not only fairly old but not the tallest of people either.

I know that whenever you see him anywhere around the Bahrain GP - paddock, grid or pit lane - he's followed about six feet behind by two enormous blokes in suits and ties. Shame they weren't around on this occasion.

Not really, either. I think it's the idea that £200k is small change that is somewhat mind-blowing. Nobody did suggest the BE deserved to be mugged. However you could say that walking around with that sort of droolery on you without Brinks Mat is also 'a pretty bloody stupid thing to do'.
