I noticed that Chris Froome and the others are cycling bikes with eccentric chainwheels. Are these back in vogue now? I used to have a Biospace chainwheel on my road bike, but I found it disconcerting.

Think you mean Elliptical chain rings or Osymetric chain rings.
Sky have always used them on and off, Wiggo has stopped using then now. Froome has not

Osymetric and Q-Rings are the favorite brands at this time, apparently biospace are 90 degrees out from where they are supposed to be.

Back in vogue? They seem to be in vogue at Sky. But despite Brailsford's propensity for science, is there any evidence of greater bio-mechanical efficiency? Or are elliptical chain rings more a matter of rider comfort? I can remember asking my LBS in 1984... :pump:
