Hi all, just a quick one.....

I am looking for a couple of spring / early summer sportives in the southwest sort of area.

i have found the following two that both look good and the sort of distances i want to achieve -
  • The New Forest Rattler
  • The White Horse Challenge
i would really appreciate any feedback from past participants on these two or any others that i havnt found yet. i appreciate alot of the entries dont open until early 2012 but just trying to plan my sportive schedule!

Not tried either of those, but I've done multiple Wiggle series ones and they've always been well organised, decent routes for the most part, well-stocked feed stations, and not bad value for money.

Hi

I've ridden the White Horse Challenge several times now. It's a very scenic ride and very well organised ride with all the elements that an organised paid sportive should contain ie. good well marked course, good stops and a friendly finish at the end and one I would highly recommend. It's not too challenging apart from new bit from last year where they introduced a "King of the Mountains" timed section but it's mostly downhill all the way from there. I would also recommend the Hampshire Hilly Hundred sportive as well. Also I haven't ridden it yet but CTC are doing a sportive in February in Dorset which a few people I know did last year and enjoyed it - February challenge ride CTC

See you there

I did The Rattler last year - good, friendly, well-organised event. Course isn't too testing hill-wise, apart from a 25% climb near the end (Blissford Hill) which is actually quite short. Would certainly recommend it - the New Forest is beautiful.

Edit: It wasn't a particularly early season event though - it was 21st August.
