Having spent a small fortune on a new bike I have to say that I'm really disappointed with the Dura Ace hydraulic levers, as they rattle so much?

To be fair its only a very slight rattle. but as we all know, a rattle is a rattle no matter how slight it is! And depending on the road surface, sometimes it can be mildly irritating while other times it really pisses me right off!

If you gently rest one finger on each of the levers its enough to stop them, but for heavens sake after spending so much should I really have to do that?

Its been mentioned it to Madison via my LBS and they claim not to have any knowledge of any such vibration or rattling issues, but I'm welcome to return the levers so that they can inspect them. Then quoted me at least a five week turn around period.

So a long shot I know, but has anyone else got the same problem?

See if it's from any fittings inside the lever blade - I'd blob some grease in.

I have a little rattle on my DA l/h lever (not hydraulic one) but it's really not an issue - like you say resting a finger on it stops it

To be honest, I've looked and I cannot see anywhere whee I could put any grease? Either that or I just prise up the rubber shroud and keep pumping grease in till it starts dripping on the floor?

More annoying that the levers rattling is that my front disc has now developed the most horrific noise straight after braking, yet within a few yards its gone? Why it has suddenly started doing it is anyone's guess.

The wheel spins freely when the bike is in the stand, no disc rub at all. Plus, looking at the gap between the pads and the disc looks even on both sides. The pads move freely on the securing pin and the spring is central in-between the pads.

The only way I can best describe it, braking from a decent speed or on a decent for example, its all most like the disc material is expanding and hitting the pads or pad, and a truly horrible metallic noise it is to? Then as the disc cools down the noise gradually goes, fading away to nothing? I pretty sure it sisnt that but its the only way to describe it.

But when the noise is there, if you gently apply some pressure to the lever it stops?

One point I have noticed, with the bike on the stand and looking at the disc and the gap in-between the pads. When applying the brake lever slowly it is ever so slightly moving the disc to one side, and I mean ever so slightly. Which suggests that maybe the calliper need to be slightly off centre?

What ever it is, it has put me right of disc brakes, the bike has only done just over a 1000 miles and up till now has been trouble free. Now I'm having to piss about trying to centralise the caliper to get rid of noise. The rear brake is fine, no issues....yet!
