What do you mean by the North West?
We (the League of Gentlemen Cyclist, see sig) run one from Dumbarton to St Andrews every year. It's comparatively tiny, however, and totally self-supported (at present). Next year, DR V, is 18th June 2011.

As close as possible to the solstice, the Keswick Bike Shop (I think that's correct) run a ride from the Castlerigg stones circle (just outside Keswick) to the coast - and back. It's run for the last 10 years or so. I missed it this year but have been planning to do it sooner or later. AFAIK they leave at dawn (possibly ca. 4am) rather than the night before but I could be wrong as my only source of information was a chat in a cafe two years ago.
