Recumbents banned, helmets compulsory (and EN1078 is not enough - they want Snell or ANSI), bizarre lighting requirements specified in useless lumens only, ... doesn't look fun - looks dangerous and likely to be full of risk-taking fools - sorry.

Two 500 lumen lights!!! I pity any poor sucker coming the other way...

As for the "night riding is more dangerous" bollocks... I have to wonder if any of these clowns have actually been on a bike, far less at night. (Hint to the terminally clueless organisers: the major danger comes from motorised vehicles, and there's far fewer of them on the roads at night).

Actually, on second thoughts, it probably will be more dangerous - because you won't be able to see a thing in front of you thanks to your own shadow being cast from the dazzling lights of the cretin behind you and your retinas being melted from the eyeball-searing rear lights from the cretin ahead...

Thought 500 lumens was rather overkill- for one light let alone two. In comparison, a Hope Vision One (the 2013 revised version) puts out 215 lumens. And I can't say, since I got two of them, I have ever thought 'I need to upgrade these lights'....

Shame about all the terms and conditions re helmets and lights, not forgetting "reflective clothing encouraged". Is this a primary school outing ffs.. If they are going down the road of "it's the event insurers who insist on helmets", can I as a member of British Cycling claim exemption on the grounds of being insured through BC?
Oh, and in the event of cancellation there will be NO REFUNDS. WTF??
It seemed such a good event at first glance, too ..... :headshake:
