During the trials and tribulations of getting email to work again on my Mac I discovered the following tale buried in an email archive. I've fashioned a tyre boot out of duct tape and bodged a repair on a tent pole during a LEJOG ride but the following repair puts mine into the shade.

During a private "fly-in" fishing excursion in the Alaskan wilderness, the chartered pilot and fishermen left a cooler and bait in the plane. And a bear smelled it. This is what he did to the plane.

The pilot used his radio and had another pilot bring him 2 new tires, 3 cases of duct tape, and a supply of sheet plastic. He patched the plane together, and FLEW IT HOME !

Ha ha - that puts my yesterday's duct tape bodge to shame!

(I had put a rear light on my bike and the inside back of my new mega-power, post-illness, chunky right leg was catching on the end of the plastic strap used to hold the light's bracket on the seatpost. I squeezed it in and wrapped about 30 cms of silver duct tape round the post to hold it there, away from my leg. The tape will also act as a silver-coloured reflector.)

Thanks for posting this Vernon, if my car fails it's mot because of the body work then duct tape is the way to go.

Good job it was a high wing plane - can't quite see duct tape being sufficient on the lifting surfaces (although I may be wrong!)

The Royal Navy should take a shed load with em. They could patch up any holes picked up in conflicts, and would'nt even need a re spray. This is the best invention since the wheel.

Great story @vernon. Thank you. BTW, is that a gun on the left side of the aircraft in the last photo?
It is a gun boot, presumably containing a rifle.

My youngest brother is diabetic. He's been told never to "Bazuka that verruca". Instead his doctor said that Duct tape is the best cure for verruca's or warts. I've used it and it works :becool:.
