I run cyo sensos on two bikes, one with dtoplight plus, one with an xs plus. Both are connected through the cyos to a SON.
I observe the following:
- Having the cyo switched to SENSO or ON results in the front light being always ON. Whether this is due to generally dull UK weather, or something odd re the SON and A/C current, I don't know. Both lights do it, so I can't see it being a one off fault.
- If the front light is ON and I'm moving, the dToplights receive a charging current, and turn on.
- Once on, the dToplights will remain lit until they run out of power, regardless of the cyo switch position. They normally shut down about 5 mins after I stop, having lost their charge entirely. This isn't an issue, as they come up full brightness as soon as I set off, and after 3 mins of moving about, they're up to full charge again.
- The charge for the cyo standlight can be preserved if you turn the cyo off when you don't want it lit.
- Neither cyo nor dtoplight charge when the Cyo is not lit.
What this means for me is that
- I can't leave the cyo on SENSO and allow it to pop on for underpasses, etc. No real worry here. Would have been nice though.
- Exiting my house in the evening can be tricky, as there is no way that the dtoplight will have a charge in it if the bike has been static for more than 5 mins. Typically, I roll it onto the driveway, switch on the lights (the cyo will light up with standlight, the rear will remain off), pedal into the road (the cyo and rear will be full bright), sit in the middle of the road 10 metres from my house, waiting to turn right onto the main road (the cyo will go to standlight, the rear light will either stay lit, or die a death). Hope to hell a car doesn't come up behind me and find me in full cycle ninja mode in the middle of the road.
The dToplights also work as reflectors, so this last scenario isn't as worrying as it sounds. Still, I wish I could turn that rear off and preserve the charge for when I actually need it rather than casting an eerie glow around my kitchen each night.
Are you on a SON?
