There are 4 of us doing it, did a run over the first 62 mile section, route and surface is ok. Bit of a steep narrow climb a few mile from the start with a real fast straight downhill the other side. There is a fair bit of loose gravel on the climb. After that it was fine, looking forward to it tho

Do youknow why they were walking the downhill, i think that climb will be a bottleneck so,early on and could see people walking that section
Think they had burned out the brake blocks on the descent...to be fair it is quite steep and I was a wee bitty nervous too. Safe to say I went past more walking up hill than down tho....it is a wee challenge in itself!

That reminds me i better order some new brake blocks beforehand.

Really like the idea of the timing, with the time being stopped while having lunch!

I did the first part of the Drumlanrig along with Stumpy66 a few weeks ago and to be honest, the steep hill quite near the start could become a bit of a bottleneck as he describes. Also on the descent there is a deep pothole that needs to be avoided, if there is a few riders around it might not be easy to pick your line. Apart from this the rest of the first section should be really enjoyable and something i'm really looking forward to.

The final entry list is now on the web site.
Did a recci on the second, Wanlockhead section the other day and was pleased to see a fair bit of new surface , even on some of the minor back road along the river. The Lanarkshire section was also much improved. On the A702 towards the top of Dalveen there are alot of part done roadworks (new surfacing, not utility hole digging). Unless the works are suspended for some reason,I would expect them to have finished for the event, which will make this stretch super smooth for a while.

More entries than ever for the full 100 miles, so should be good. (I'll be doing the setting off)

Well new pads and bar tape fitted and final spin on the bike last night and an unidentified creak appeared. Think it might be the seatpost but i dont have any carbon paste so just going to have to try and ignore it.

Looks like a chilly start to the day but hopefully will remain dry at least

Great day out, well organised, good cakes and a good route.

Toughest bit for me was Mennock Pass which just seemed to go on forever. I probably ate a bit too much at the lunch break as i felt like throwing up a couple of times when going up there!. Would like to tackle it with fresh legs - and also descend down the way we went up today, the surface was generally very good on the way up looked like a lot of fun!

I had a great day out at Drumlanrig and found it to be really well organised and put together by a very welcoming team. I found the first section to be nothing too bad with a lunch break that came at just the right time for me, never one to refuse a cake i did myself proud. The second section was a bit daunting as i left Drumlanrig as i knew we were going to be climbing, the Mennock Pass was certainly one which i will remember but it won't be one that would put me off attempting next year. Did anyone else notice how large the difference in temperature was towards the top of the Mennock Pass compared to that at the lower stretches? - it was baltic up there!. All good fun tho.
