Hello folks.
I bought me a new bike...a Marin Muirwoods Urban 09.
It ticked all the boxes and it looked pretty cool. I liked stripped down, slick tyre, look about them. It rides nice, gearing is just right (compared to MTB) gears. I find steep hills no problem either. Everything is good.
Except.....i cannot find any mudguards that will look remotely half good on the bike. Narrow mudguards only seem to be made for 700 wheels.
It has 26x1.5 tyres, very narrow for a 26" rim. I want to use the bike everyday for commuting in all weathers, so the idea of removable ones isn't really an option (or is it?). Some of the removable blade guards look ok(ish).
I really wanted a narrow close fitted guard that would look unobtrusive and hardly noticeable like the 'crud roadracer' guards fitted to racebikes.
So i look to the knowledgable folks on here to help me.
I'll post some pics later.

Thought i'd get some of these and trim them down and fit them close to the tyre. There are cheap enough if it all goes wrong (not that it will)

Either that or some SKS 35mm wide 700's and see if i can get them to bend to the 26" tyre profile. SKS Not cheap if i find my idea doesn't work.

Or these made by Tortec, if i could find someone selling them in black

(thought..... i could paint then i suppose!)

Here is the bike, i'm sure you are all familiar with them.

Wow thats what i want. Carbon fibre

Double wow!! look at the price........thats half of what the bike cost!!

Just seen the S/s ones, not bad price, but shiny mudguards on a matte black bike doesn't work i'm afraid. (sorry, i know i'm being fussy)

I did think of making fibreglass ones(i have the materials), but it would easier to trim new plastic ones.

Nice bike Wurly.

Those ebay ones are P65, whereas a slightly narrower P55 exists (well SKS anyway). I reckon P35 would be too narrow - probably get water coming off the edges! I also think bending a 700C guard would look a bit ghey. But, it is your bike!!
