It utlilises the Knott- End ferry from Fleetwood for a hassle free access to the countryside. The route travels North eastwards along the Cockerham Sands road before picking up the Glasson Dock to Caton cycle path at Condor Green. The cycle path follows the River Lune through Lancaster and upstream to Caton where a nice brew and bacon butty can be enjoyed at the Bull Beck Car Park sited to the East of Caton. From there it is back to the roads and onto Ingleton which is the home to the famous waterfalls walk, Ingleton and White Scar caves and an open air swimming pool by the riverside. The single track country lane (Oddies Lane) via Beezley's farm is preferred to the B6255 from Ingleton to Chapel le Dale. It is then a short uphill and drop down to Ribblehead and the fine views of the Ribblehead Viaduct and Whernside.
The original route is then followed through Hawes, Buttertubs Pass to the Tan Hill Inn and onwards to Tynemouth.
