double breasted jacket?

Went out for an hours ride and it started snowing (I'm in Norway atm)
Very weird trying to ride on a sand dune covered in snow.

Riding back my endura air defence + baselayer was plenty warm enough bar a cold strip down the middle where the zip is. This has me thinking, does anyone make a double breasted cycling jacket? (not so unusual in motorcycling circles) Would it help by giving a double thickness frontal area where windchill is worst? With single layer on rest of jacket where it isn't needed.

OTOH I've seen the TdF riders putting newspapers down the front of their jerseys to stop windchill on the alpine descents, perhaps I should throw a paper in the bag.

I have same jacket and have used it down to about minus 5 with a long sleeved base layer (poss had a short sleeved one on too) and had no zip prob. I have some light nylon gilets that work well as frontal wind blockers, but i think I would be too hot in my Air Defence with the gilet as well.

The Assos Fugu has a double front layer a built in skull cap. Very very snug

I just googled that £ . Does look good though.

I was warm enough in the endura, (+ LS baselayer). Super jacket unless I'm out in the rain for a while. Definitely not waterproof.
More was that I could feel a cold stripe where the zip was. A wider internal flap behind it would probably work as well as a double-breasted arrangement.

An old trick.

If you know someone who can knit. Ask them to knit you a roll neck garment with only the front ( about 10" wide, down to the front of your shorts ). Wear it UNDER your road jersey.
It is lighter than a full roll neck sweater, and when the weather improves, it can be stowed away in a back pocket.

I bought a winter jacket in autumn from Aldi... best one I've ever had, and they gave it me for a tenner... (last one on the rack). It has such a double breasted arrangement, and its warm as toast (ie that's just come out of the toaster... not cold toast, that would be silly)

Have to keep an eye out for their next offers, racks were empty when I got there last time.

When the racks are laden with double-breasted jackets next winter you'll know were the idea came from;)
