None of the PEDs are "safe" in this context

Even an approved drug when used outside the intended formulary will have side effects and be detrimental to health.

Quite often the use of these "new" drugs is because you have a time window before they are detected and / or added to the banned list

The point I made was that none of the PEDS are "safe" when used out of Formulary.

EPO for instance is not approved for use with the dosing levels used for performance enhancement due to the increased toxicity, and morbidity in athletes using it

Whether you choose to harm yourself using an unlicensed drug, or a licensed one is exactly the same decision making process. They are "barmy" to play fast and loose with either.
