Don't you have it when you have to explain why you love cycling back and forth to work to your lazy work colleagues who sit in a car or take a bus to work and are unfit with a range of health problems.

Day in day out I'm meet with "I would never cycle up those hills you must be mad" or "I'd never cycle as far as you do that's crazy" I just hate explaining myself.

What questions are you meet with? And what answers do you come back with?

I get the same sort of thing. "10 miles into work? You must be mad! In this weather? Up that hill?" It doesn't annoy me though. It's a compliment really.

4 wheels is NO way to commute.

True, but then how many people do you hear of commuting on go-karts.

My colleagues call me mad because I ride 30 km to work and 30 km back home almost everyday.
Have to start between 5 and 6 am, so I get up between 2 and 2:30 am, a fact that convinces my colleagues and boss that I'm more than a little insane.

But hey, I get the free workout, the fun of a night ride and a nice ride home! And I get an extra reimbursement every month
So who is the mad one? Who is the winner in the end? :cycle:

I ride 20km to work in all weathers. In the Summer I even Kickbike to work. But I never have to explain myself to anyone at work and they all love having a go on the Kickbike at lunchtime around the car park.

Like Frank I start at 6am and so need to be up at 3.45am to get to work. I am an Englishman amongst a factory full of danes. They dont need to tell me I am mad, I already know that.

I ride home from the sea front and start with a very hard incline. Nobody believed I could ride up it for ages where I work until someone saw me. Also when its wet or windy they must ask me a few times a day about how I am getting home.
