Of course. Everyone knows that. Well, I didn't. Not that I did it on purpose...obviously spilling liquids into keyboards is not A Good Idea. But I didn't realise quite what a BAD idea it is till I did it. Be warned. Be careful. Especially if you take sugar - that really kills them. Wish I'd googled before I got sloppy.

I was on the phone to a mate once and he sounded a bit sloshed so I asked him if he'd been drinking. He said that he'd finished one bottle of wine, and was half way through a second. We got into a conversation about whether he might possibly be drinking too much, then he casually asked me if red wine was harmful to computers...

"I wouldn't recommend getting wine anywhere near a computer, why?"

"Because I spilt a glass into my Mac laptop about 5 minutes ago when you rang me and the screen went blank!"

The silly bugger had left it switched on and full of wine while he chatted to me. It never worked again.

Our ZX Spectrum was milk proof, I spilt about 1/4 of a pint on the keyboard.

I kept schtum, I'd have owned up if there had been a problem, but there wasn't, so I missed the ear bashing I would have got for not breaking it.

I don't know what he looks at but he does jump when you walk in. It pissed off my boss so much that he moved the room around so that you could see the screen through the window before you got into the room ;0)
