Set off from Cardiff all going well dropped down onto the Gwent Levels road about 3 or 4 miles along came to a road closure due to the road slipping into the ditch  No way round so had to go back to the main road and continue from there. Slightly more hilly but better surface so probably just as good. Had to revise the route a bit as I didnt want to do more than 100.

Eat loads but probably didnt drink enough I had one water bottle plus an extra 1.5 litres in coke bottles. Took cheese sandwich Tesco lemon and raisin pancakes ,bananas ,chicken pasta and some nuts .

total was 100.3 miles at 12.8 average riding speed.

Route I actually took is here on bikehike www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?id=23255

Impressed with some of the cycle paths around Newport, smooth and wide, great to not have traffic worries for a while.

Well done.

What a great feeing that must give you...... (I'm about to try my first 15 mile this weekend, so I got some way to catch you)

Yeah still on cloud nine even if fairly knackered

Good luck on the 15 trouble is you will start thinking if I can do 15 I can do 20 next time then before you know it you will be in the 100 club.

PS thanks everyone for the replies.

So when are you doing your 150 mile ride then

One things for sure,it wont be tommorow;),I really take my hat off to the long distance tourers who do it day after day with heavy panniers.

I would like to try an Audax ride sometime, probably do a 100 k one first then maybe a 200 k which is about 120 miles I think.

The route I took was quite flat mostly so to step up to a longer distance with more climbing is going to take a bit of training.
