I'm after one of those lightweight stuffable windproof jackets like the Montane Featherlite, Santini ICE etc. but as usual I'm having sizing problems because of skinnyness. I can't seem to find one that's both long enough and slim enough. I bought an XS Sportful Hot Pack jacket which was very nice but way too short and like all these jackets the cuffs simply weren't tight enough.

I think realistically I'm never going to find a really close fitting jacket like this but is there at least one with adjustable cuffs? They all seem to have elasticated cuffs which are never tight enough for my wrists. Today I tried on a 'small' Pearly Izumi Optik which wasn't too bad a fit overall but it too would have let cold air up my arms. An identical jacket that at least had adjustable cuffs would do me for want of something better, but I can't find one. Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Matthew

Something like this? Raceface Membrane. I've got one, and whilst it's not 'tight fitting' per se, it's so light that it doesn't really matter, and it is long enough on me (and I'm slim). I also have pretty thin wrists as it goes, and that doesn't seem to have been a problem. In fact, I've been impressed every time I've used this, especially on the night ride to brighton where I was very cold, donned said jacket, and suddenly was warm, very good wind protection!

Thanks for the suggestion, but the cuffs aren't actually adjustable though are they? I've tried on quite a few jackets and not a single one with simple elasticated cuffs would actually have kept the wind out. Also, their small size sounds big. I have a ~33" chest and a ~27" waist.

Another point is I really don't want a jacket that is advertised as waterproof as these are invariably too warm for my purposes. I'd rather get soaked to the skin in a windproof than have the boil-in-the-bag experience.

Can you not just make the elasticated cuffs tighter? Even if you can't do it, surely some sort of alterations place should be able to sort that quite easily...?

Possibly. Though it does seem a little wrong to spend over £50 on a glorified windbreaker and then immediately attack it with needle and thread.

I have absolutely no idea how straightforward something like that would be - anyone?

Carry a pair of thin arm warmers too Matthew, wear them 'rolled' down. Then you solve your 'problem'.
Your waist is nigh on my thigh size...maybe you could just slip on a rubber glove if it gets windy?

I often do carry arm warmers but there are times when having them on will tip the balance towards 'too hot'. Perhaps I need to find thinner ones.

I find that if it's raining and around 10-12° then a l/s windproof + s/s jersey puts me at about the right temperature as long as I can keep the wind out effectively. It's a fine line though.

Thanks for the suggestion Jim. I don't think that would be much better than the cheapo JJB thing I have at the moment though. I'm am positive I don't want something that claims to be waterproof as I really don't like the boil in the bag effect - I'd much rather get soaked to the skin and comfortable temperature-wise.
