Bought this lovely Cube for my husband. Was advised over the phone by Chain Reaction Cycles this bike would be a perfect fit but might require a shorter stem. The stem is 110mm centre to centre, if that's how you even measure it :S

I was looking for your opinions on the fit and if you think it looks ok. My husband has never had a drop bar bike so we are unsure if he feels stretched because of inexperience or the stem being too long. It is a BIG bike (62cm) but he is 6 foot 2 with a 33inch inseam.

We are aware the bars are too high and need to come down.

I am no expert but to me it looks ok, except a shorter stem needed and for bars to come down to horizontal?

EDIT- New, better picture

Its Looks a small 62 cm frame ....Take it to your LBS and ask them to tweak it to suite his riding position..
hard to tell from the photo... does nt look to bad of a position...stem looks long enough I would say
Arms should be slightly cranked when ontop of the hoods . would also say seat post up 10cm max
as he has no shoes on .. be better riding down to your LBS with his shoes and cycling gear
on to get a true reading ....

There's nothing the LBS can do that you can't do yourself by looking at a few youtube clips and waving a few allen keys. Difficult to tell from the pic as the clothing choice is particularly unhelpful, but I would say the bike looks too small. If you are looking for a shorter stem to give him a more upright position, then it is possible that the bike you have was not the right choice in the first place and that a hybrid might have been more suitable. You don't really want to be any more upright than that on a drop bar bike, or it kind of defeats the object...

i am about same dimensions - I ride 60 cm road frame, measured c-c.

what is the top tube on on that? measure horizontally from centre of head tube to centre of seatpost (if top tube slopes) or top tube. it should be around 580 mm.

Absolutely. I apologise for posting my favorite bike-fit clip yet again. It's well worth a view IMVHO.

Good luck.
EDIT: You don't need a trainer. Just lean the bike against a wall instead

Looks perfect size to me, just that the saddle is too low. I am exactly the same dimensions (33" inseam) and ride bikes around that frame size. Does it feel comfortable on a long ride?

Cubes are weird sizes. I have a '58' and there ain't nothing that's 58cm on that thing! Looks cramped and too small imho. Saddle needs to come up a fair bit too.

It's a pity you took the picture from face level and not from his hip height, because the relative closeness of his shoulders has foreshortened the rest of the bike and given an impression that it's too small. Try again with the camera about 3' from the ground and, if possible, taken from further away on a zoom setting, which will restore everything to its correct relative proportions.

Still looks too small to me though and the saddle certainly needs raising.

In between here and there
Must admit from that camera angle, seat height flipped stem & clothing etc. the bike looks a little small.

I think the picture is a problem, I'll post a new one tonight. He has not been out on it as if it doesn't fit it will need to go back. Thanks all.

How is this? I hope my photo taking skills are a little better this time

The only thing is he says his arms feel locked out on the hoods. We are going to take it out tomorrow for a spin.
