Valve length that is!

I have just picked up some replacement inner tube from our favourite orange coloured car/bike shop, u have just got home and realised that the valves are 62mm rather than my current 42mm ones. Does it matter in the slightest?

Thanks in advance!

No, but I find longer ones easier to get the pump head on to effectively!

It only matters if you've got deep section wheels then you'll need the extra valve length.

I've got 60mm on my Sirrus because I got a bit confused when ordering and figured better too long than too short. They look a bit silly, but they are really easy to find. I'll probably go for 40's the next time I replace them (the archetypes are 25mm deep so don't need 60's but probably would prefer to avoid the shortest ones). I've not rushed out to replace them because they don't seem to be doing any noticeable harm.

On a std non-aero rim, an extra-long valve is easier to damage by careless pump handling.
