What the square patch on the pockets and raincovers of my Altura Arran panniers is for? The patch has four slots one on each side and sits about 1/4 of an inch high. Any help with this mystery would be very helpful as there was no info on the tag that was attached to the panniers.

I have no idea, but it's late at night and the chances are I might be the only one who reads this for a while, so I'll hazard a guess....something for attaching lights to?

It's for attaching an LED light to, as Noodley says. At least, that's what I use it for.

I was having a ponder about this today, and wondering if it may be for securing straps to for additional binding. You know the kind of thing where a waterproof jacket or similar can be tied to the outside of the pannier with a strap for ease of access should it start raining rather than having to open the pannier...

I thought they were for attaching reflectors.
