My road bike gearing hasn't been too hot for a little while. I put it into the LBS (not impressed!) for a winter service and told them about the gears and asked if they could look at them. To be honest I don't think they did, I don't know how they could miss this. I have little to no technical expertise and don't even know the proper names for things so I apologise in advance.

I've uploaded a couple of videos to youtube for you guys to look at if you don't mind. What the videos can't capture is the slipping you feel underfoot - it's just not smooth. I'm shifting roughly every second in the video so when the chain isn't shifting, it should be or is struggling to. You'll also notice in video number 1 the chain jumps from the smallest cog to the largest cog with one shift. It's almost like the shifters aren't in sync with the gears. Sometimes there's a lot of play in the shifters, sometimes very little.

Cheers

This video will help

looks like it aint that far out as it drops down easy - i think if it used to work whats happened is that the cable has stretched a bit - so tighten it a bit - how you do that depends on what sort of gears you have but sure someone will enlighten you

Ok apparently I am useless at mechanics. Trip to the lbs I think, certainly won't be the original one I took it to >:-(
