Do you think this is a good bike?

Hi Coco

I think it's a little heavy and under-specced for 600 quid. Something off-putting about GT roadbikes (at least for me), that I can't put my finger on.

You could definitely get a SORA equipped bike (1 groupset up from 2300), with 18 gears, as opposed to 16 on this. Folk will doubtless be along to give specifics soon enough... if you are not fussed about the brand and are able or willing to get it checked over after collection, have you considered a Carerra Vanquish? A lot of bike for 600 and Tiagra too. EDIT: just checked and they are 500 at the mo!

I'll be back later with more ideas - you have made me go and look at bikes on the interwebs now! Shame on you ;)

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Yup have to agree a bit overpriced for 8 speed, i picked up a second hand carrera TDF with the same specs apart from the forks for £100 ish .
Microshift may not be shimano but they work , in fact the LBS mechanic likes them as they offer a solid click compared to lighter action from eg the 2300.

Edit sorry duck you beat me to it

Have a look at this for a similar price, My link , It says Cannondale on it

+1 - cannondale are good bikes.

or this

don't get hung up on whether it's a man's or women's bike, just get the right frame size and then things like the stem can be shortened so the reach is not so far. i've always had men's bikes and shortened the stem. (i am presuming you are a woman)

The Peloton is lovely (the 2011 one has lime green trim and tyres). I reccommended one to a girl from work recently and she got one! I had a look at it last week at lunchtime and it's a nice bike. I think she paid about 850 though.

Totally off subject (apologies to OP) but the pound sign isn't even on my American keyboard.

But if you hold down the 'Alt' key and type 0163 on the number pad (with num lock on) then you will get a £ sign.

Hope it works for you.

Just a quickie - The Vanquish is currently £499 online (£599 in-store), and Halford's are currently doing an additional 20% off. Just reserved a Vanquish from my local store for a healthy £399. Sale of the Century as far as I'm concerned
