Sorry Gaz, just noticed it's not available on that link. It's clearly a pretty old hub you've got there, although I see it's DA

I might be quite hard to get hold of, but give Geoff Smiths in Bolton a call, 01204 653509. He's been in business since Jesus first learned to ride a bike.

If he's got one but you can't get over for it let me know as I only work 5 mins down the road from his shop

Thanks dude, i'll ask for a tool to remove a free wheel from a DA hub thats "Older Than him" Yeah ?

All you need is a hammer and punch.

Yup - the two central slots are the lock ring for the bearings which you don't need to touch.

Outside you can see two round holes - the punch goes in one of these and then give it a hack with a hammer. The direction is clearly signposted.

A punch is something like this. Or use a blunt chisel or an old flat screwdriver that you don't care about. Put the end into the notch and drive it in a clockwise direction.

Unless you have a very old French hub, any standard freewheel should fit.

Best getting the right tool - they can be a bugger to get off. I've only got a suntour splined freewheel tool (for 6-7 speeds) and not one that will do the singlespeed one. Look for BMX freewheel removers.

PS expect some hard work. Last time I removed a freewheel, it took me attaching a spanner to a garden hoe so I effectively had a 6 foot spanner. Came off eventually - I thought I'd slipped as I flew backwards down the driveway. Threw wheel into garage, and stormed off. Next day, picked up wheel to take to LBS...... yes it was loose now . PS the hoe still fits the spanner - this was 15 years ago ! - Used the combination last year to remove my son's freewheel
