Im about to replace an inner tube on my spin carbon wheelset (spokeless). The current rim tape needs to be replaced, however i dont have any and would like to use the bike this afternoon.

Do i actually need rim tape, when using these wheelsets?

Couple of wraps of insulating tape will do pretty much the same job.
Failing that, just go out and buy some

Agree.
All the FF families bikes use Insulating tape instead of rim tape. Works a treat, costs naff-all and weighs nowt too!

Thanks for the tip on the insulation tape - I can't believe I'd never thought of that before. At the opposite end of things I really like velocity veloplugs as a fit and forget alternative, bloody expensive but none of that accidentally moving the rim tape whilst fitting tyres.

Theres bound to be a company out there that does them but cheaper. Velocity being one of the things that hipsters like for their rims, theres bound to be a company in England selling them off cheap.

I got some in the recent Planet-X/On-One sale... then after building a pair of wheels last night, I found that the holes in Rigida Chrina rims are too big for them.

The electrical tape tip couldn't possibly have been better timed for me!
