I'm having a long running battle with Ribble over a set of faulty Fulcrum 5 wheels.

To cut a long story short, I returned the wheels (still under warranty) to Ribble almost 3 months ago for repair/replacement.

They have apparantly returned them to Fulcrum for repair, which I was told could take up to 3 weeks. Despite repeated chasing I still have no wheels.

I've been told for the last 2 weeks that Fulcrum have confirmed the repair has been carried out, and that the wheels should be back with Ribble "any day now". Strangley enough I don't have much confidence in having my wheels back this week......

I think I've been more than fair with Ribble, as I understand it, it's their responsibility to sort this not Fulcrum, and I think I've given them a "reasonable" time to get this resolved.

Any thoughts on what I should do, I've thought of telling Ribble they have till Friday to get me a set of wheels or a refund, or I'll start a small claims court claim.... I dont want to go this way, but I'm rapidly getting fed up of being messed about by them.

Why not drive over to Preston and pay them a visit?

Alternatively come over and I'll drive you in my car as the place is difficult to find.

Is the reason we seem to get fairly regular stories about Ribble here just due to their popularity? Or do they generally have shonky customer service?

They are an internet seller who have a showroom, there used to be a shop in Preston but even at that time there were complaints about service. I can only assume that the owner is not retail-minded and makes so much profit that he isn't too bothered about the odd report of bad service.

I emailed them this morning telling them they had till Friday to send me replacement wheels or a refund or I was going to start legal action.

They replied this afternoon that the wheels had been despatched eairlier today, and I should have them tomorrow..........oh, and they havent been repaired, Fulcrum have issued a new wheel.........


I'll let you draw your own conculsions, but as long as my wheels arrive I don't care.

its $hite when you have to resort to that sort of thing just to get what is yours.

The owner is a business man pure and simple. He piles it high and shifts so much stuff that he can afford not to care, it keeps him in brand new mercs each year. He pays pretty much as low as he can get away with and whilst a few of the lads there enjoy the discount on bikes and genuinely love all matters cycling, most of them are always looking to move on to one of the local shops. The others are just doing a low paid job. Consequently no-one is that fussed about service.

Kesteven - I'm glad your threat worked, I was going to suggest you did just that. It's the only language the owner understands.

i believe this is another reason to buy from LBS as i have major doubts and this as for sure confirmed my non-involvement with ribble however, I'm also having a bit of difficulty in getting a reply from my LBS, cant frigging win :tongue:
