About to have a crack at bleeding one of the hydrolic brakes on my MTB. Thought I was rdy to go with the Shimano Air bleeding kit and some generic Halfords mineral oil, but the instructions state to use only genine Shimano mineral oil. Well they would. Does it matter or I'm about to furbar the brakes with the Halfords stuff?

Nope It will be fine it is just all the Dot oil you need the right one. All the Mineral oil is the same as I know it.

The only difference may be the colour, the Shimano stuff is pink. I bought a litre of Shimano mineral oil for £12 delivered.

That's not that bad. That''l last you for years too.

You're right, but it's the going price for a litre. If you buy the little shimano bleed kit, you only get 50ml and it costs £7! The bleed kit consists of a dropper bottle and a small piece of tube.

Yeah it probably is, thought tbh would include the oil so just a one stop shop type thing rather than having to buy both, also I guess as the first time I attempted a bleed I just wanted keep things idiot proof and 'go by the book'.
