Disc brakes. Changing from cable operated to cable operated hydraulics

Just as the title says. I have not had disc brakes before. How difficult would the above change be?

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Ive got hope V twins running on mine and setup is a cinch. As long as you have the right kit and tools....

Can you clarify your query. Hydraulics don't use cables, are you wanting to change from Cable operated discs to Hydraulic discs or rim brakes to hydraulic discs?
You say you've never had discs before therefore you are probably looking at the latter which would mean new wheels, and new frame and forks which have mounting points for calipers.

I'm guessing you mean move from cable to something like the Hy/Rd brakes?

I did this on my front, easy enough change, takes about 10 minutes - only issue I had was routing the cable.

Can't say the brake is significantl better than the cable but its a lot less hassle to maintain

The OP does say he's never used discs before so I'm still puzzled with the query.

Maybe a first bike with discs and is unsure of his options if he wants to change

I am looking at the CDF 20 2017 which has Tiagra groupset and cable operated disc brakes and the Stelvio from planet X which has Ultegra groupset with cable operates disc brakes. I was wondering if it was a simple operation to turn the Planet X to cable operated hydraulics.

In case you don't like the direct cable brakes? (You might be perfectly happy with them.)

I replaced the front cable-operated brake on my CAADX with a cable/hydraulic TRP/HY-RD because the original brake was poor. It was a simple thing to do. You do need to understand the instructions on how to adjust the brake properly because it isn't done the way you might think.

My HY-RD is very effective but it does need a lot of lever pull for full braking power. I get the lever about 90% of the way to the bar to achieve that. The brake starts to engage at about 25% travel.

According to the Genesis website, the CDF 20 already comes with TRP Hy/Rd brakes.

The PX comes with Avid BB7, which I don't know but they're supposed to be OK, so you might not need to bother upgrading.

I'm riding a bike with TRP Spyre-C cable disc brakes at the moment and they're great - I wouldn't consider the Hy/Rd much of an upgrade from those, but I don't know how they compare to BB7s.
