I have the following bike: http://www.e-bikesdirect.co.uk/Item...rames/Wisper_90_SE_City_S_Electric_bikes.aspx

Shortly after it arrived 2 months ago the front disc brakes started squealing really badly. I took it to my LBS and asked if there was anyhting they could do. They said squeaking is usually a sign that the brakes hadn't been set up right, so I got them to service it. 3 Weeks later and they are still squealing like mad, so much so that I now use the rear v-brakes when I can (not so safe though). Can anyhting else be done, or should I upgrade my discs? Any suggestions for upgrades? if possible I'd stick with mechanical discs as they seem adequate for my needs.

Disc brakes on bikes are prone to squeel.
I have BB7's on my commuter and they squeal like a cat being strangled when damp/wet.

I changed the supplied pads with (cheaper) ones from Disco Brakes and they seem to be quieter then the supplied.

Re-surface the face of the pads by first removing them, then using a flat sheet of sandpaper (make sure the sandpaper is flat, I use a bit of MDF board to tape it too) place the face of the pad on the sandpaper and move in a figure of eight a few times to take the polished surface off the pad.
It's also a good idea to do this with the brake discs too by scouring the braking faces with some emery cloth.

Hope it helps
