Dimension data rider nic Dlamini gets a broken arm during a scuffle with a table mountain ranger. as far as I can gather he didn't show a permit to allow him to cycle there.

A mate of mine was a police officer in Cape Town before emigrating to the UK.

He's reluctant to tell too many stories even 20 years later, but what we would call police brutality is routine over there.

I suppose the rangers aren't coppers, but it looks like they run along similar lines.

Not a lot of point being bolshy over there as they have a very different moral compass. I love the country, and I'm heading over for another 3 week visit at the end of January, but I'm very aware of what can happen and only get to visit the places I do go because we go with someone who has lived there for a number of years.
