Difficult Gear changing

Looking for some advice ?

I have today encountered problems whilst changing down a gear , The chain appears to switch down ok but then rattles as though it is going to change again. I then have to change down again before moving back up to the gear i initially selected. This time it seems ok and remains in the gear i want.
I have recently had a new drivechain fitted including derailleur and cable and am wondering if i am right to believe this is an adjustment issue ?

Sounds like you need to adjust your gear cable tension slightly.

As above as step 1 - but it also sounds as though it could be that the inner cable is sticking slightly. Make sure there is a bit of grease where the cable runs under the BB and that there are no sharp bends to the outer cable on the bars.

If you can't fix obviously yourself - go back to the shop that fitted it. I'm sure they'll make the adjustments for free on something they fitted.

Don't lubricate the cable under the BB, especially not with grease or oil - it will collect dirt and become a filthy gritty mess.

It gets mucky in that spot anyway - better off with a bit of grease IMHO.
