Occasionally I feel so. I feel sleepy during afternoon cycling. I just stop it on the countryside and rest under a tree for about half-an-hour and then continue.

The only time I've ever felt sleepy on a ride was when I'd not eaten enough and 'bonked', 'hit the wall' and almost fainted as I rode. A 30 minute rest and a couple of Mars bars got me going again.

Yep. Often yawning! Never stop though.

There are two types of tired in my (simple) mind. Firstly, knackered from effort tired and secondly not enough sleep this week tired. Always suffering from the second, which prevents suffering from the first!

Yes. Usually cycling home in thick autumn mist after a late shift. There's no traffic on the rural roads and if the clothes are right I feel comfortable and the mind starts to drift off. I sometimes realise I've no idea where I've been for the past 5 miles. It's great.... if a little scary!

My brother once fell and banged his head while out on a remote trail in Michigan. He had no idea where he was until he met some hikers who directed him back to the car park.

Sleepiness is a sign of low blood sugar.

It's also a sign of being tired!

Once you've been riding for 24 hours, no amount of blood sugar is going to stop you feeling sleepy. But I find cat napping for 10 to 15 minutes works. On long audax rides, I never try to fight that overwhelming feeling of wanting to fall asleep, but instead, jump off the bike, set the count down timer on my watch for 12 minutes, put it between the helmet straps and my ear and whenit goes off, I wake up feeling remarkably revived. If I try a 30 minute sleep or more I wake up knackered until I sleep enough to completely catch up with the deficit. But short cat naps the moment I need them works both riding and sailing.

Also, people naturally feel more tired at about 9am and again at 3pm. I often like a mid afternoon doze! Not on my bike though it has to be said!

As long as I breathe, I attack.

I never feel tired on a bike ride ,even coming home at 5am after a night shift i enjoy it so much and it helps me relax ready for sleep.

Can't afford to feel sleepy in my rush hour commutes.

Although, I can imagine that it's easy to drift your mind on quiet rural roads

Numerous times I've been cycling home at 6.00am after a night shift and because of lack of sleep, and the fact the roads are quiet, I've yawned all the way home. Not even cycling in fresh cold air has cured it.

I think sleepriding is quite a serious problems with commuters. I once fell asleep on my bike and ended up down a dirt track and luckily didn't fall off
