Did it myself, feel an enormously out-of-proportion sense of pride...

I don't take enough care of my gears. I did try to - I even bought one of those gadgets where you put the liquid in, but I messed it up and the cleaning fluid went on the floor.

I cleaned and re-oiled my gears.
It's not much to most people but I felt like a pro, and the ride was sooo smooth afterwards...
:bravo:
I remember when I first cleaned mine too....I still get a sense of achievement when I clean mine and it runs quiet and smooth.
It makes me grin like the proverbial Cheshire cat!

Awesome, I cleaned my road bike after 2.5 years of having it about 2 months back, it was caked in rubbish and road dirt!
Ran so smooth afterwards.

Get yourself a nice bike stand (£20-40) off ebay and then you'll be rocking!

Well done - I feel your pride!

Or you could just keep the first one clean and lubed which negates the need for a lot of the maintenance.
regular clean and lube = a lot of maintenance :pump:

Infrequent attention when it really needs it = little maintenance + a nice warm feeling when it's running smooth and silent again :okay:

Depends how you look at it I guess. You have a good point in some respects. I was referring to requiring a lot less work coaxing components back to life or replacing prematurely.

I get the warm feeling Every time I ride my bike, as it Always smooth and silent!

You don't have to suffer it being rough and noisy Ever.
