I am new to cycling mainly commuting to work 8 miles each way but have been fitting in some 20-30 mile rides in on a weekend, I have got a 50 mile ride coming up and want to try some bib shorts, I have had a search and an close to buying a pair of dhb bib shorts, would I be ok with the race or would I be better off with the pro's? Any views or reviews would be most appreciated, thanks, Gary

Basically one or other will be the better fit for you personally. Whichever is the theoretically "better" model might not be the best fit for you.

For what it's worth dhb fit is very pecliar - I'm medium in one set, and XL in another - so if you find something that fits, buy a 2nd pair, as it'll be discontinued next time . Dhb is quite good gear for the money though

I have a pair of both and I am pleased with both. The fit of the Pros is slightly better for me than the race but it is probably not £20 better which is the difference in price at the moment. You could order a pair of each and try them and then send 1 pair back, Wiggle returns are very good.

Thanks for your replys, I will probably order both maybe in 2 sizes and see what I prefer fit and feel.

I have just spent today in sportful shorts. Fantastic. Look for them in sigma sports clearance. Cycling active recent review said the dhb pad is thin. Although lots of people love them

I have a pair of DHB Roubix bib shorts and they were comfy not so sure now after several washes? Just got a pair of Dare2b bibs in the sale at EBC, reduced down to £50 and they seem far comfier even after several washes. Think the pad is of a better quality, was considering DHB pro Race as I reckon the pad is of higher quality than the cheaper ones? My @rse seems to be quite fussy

I like my Castelli's but even though i'm 60kg and 5 foot 9 they are a "large" so whatever you get try them on 1st.

I can confirm the DHB Pro Aeron bib shorts arnt the best in the padding department.

Further to my earlier post, just bought some aeron pro bib shorts and they seem rather good; comfy too albeit only used 15 miles on today's commute. Went for a size larger than their guide and fit is good. Seem rather well made and nicely designed so no reason to think they won't. Just shy of £60 so quite good value for the quality I think. Am tempted by 2nd pair for stock

Oh, and forgot to say, already had a pair of 3/4 length "aeron race" and whilst i'm perfectly happy with them, the pro (bib shorts) ar a lot nicer (based only on one day's commuting). They don't seem to do the "pros" in 3/4 or longs, unfortunately or I'd probably get both.

I bought a pair of the Race this week. I'm 6', 31" waist, 38" chest, 75kgs. They are a medium and fit me, just.

They are fairly light on the padding though, I'll see how comfortable they are over 50+ this weekend.

I gather that the Pro are excellent, with better padding and quality in general, but £25 more expensive of course. They're both on sale at Wiggle at the moment, of course.

I've done around 6 centuries this year using the Race bibs, and they've been very comfortable even after several hours in the saddle.
