I have a 15 year old Marin Bear Valley, I would like to fit a front detatchable mudguard. The usual ones that fit almost all bikes don't fit mine.
Can anyone advise me as to what make and model I should go for and if possible recomend any online stockists?;)

What do you mean by "don't fit"?

The ones I've tried, the securing piece that fits inside the hollow recess beneath the fork is not a compatable shape or size, I hope that makes sense. I'm sure I saw one years ago which had a securing point with holes in it and attached to the fork by a nut & bolt.

I got one from decathlon that attachs to your downtube. Not as good as a traditional mudguard but not bad and attachs in seconds. I can't see it on their website though, but they don't show all their lines.

Sorry about the double post folks, I'm new to this site & only spotted the tech area after I'd done the 1st.
I must admit I woulld have preferred the trad design, where I live there are no bike shops so I rely on the web. The crud catcher "looks" a bit mickey mouse but I've searched some reviews and users seem to like it so I think I'll give it a go.
