Just been speaking to one of our customers and he lives next door to where this is planned to be built.

Good news is that he is a very keen and fit cyclist.

Indoor 250 metre track, plus 1.5km road circuit as well. Excellent. Road circuit will be sorted out once the enviro-green-nature lobby have finished having their objctions dealt with, apparantly. The place is opposite Derby footy ground, how much endangered species do you expect to find? Plenty of grass in the stadium, and off the edges of the circuit. Sorted.

great for the weekend cyclist , what about the infrastructuree for utility cyclists? how is Derby doing with that ? Or will it be like redbridge cycling centre with no decent cycling routes to it, with plenty of close passing by drivers with several bikes on their roof racks.

There is a cycle path running alongside the river from town, out towards Nottingham, part of Sustrans system

Not too far from me either...top news. 2014 finish date maybe a bit optimistic, but I'm certainly going to use it when it arrives. They say they will house basketball/netball in there too, I assume in the centre. That would be quite funny to cycle round whist matches are going on...

I pass this everyday on the way to work, the completion date did seem optimistic, but the groundwork was completed on schedule, no mean feat as I think it was at some time a landfill site. Anyway. thought I'd take a few photos as it's built to see progress, here's the latest from today, yes they were working on a Saturday;

Building sites and projects look like, well, building sites until the last few days, then suddenly it all appears. The interior fit out can take time, so just because there is a nice outer shell with a shambles outside, it's probably still on schedule.
Manchester used to have training sessions and minor track leagues with netball going on in the centre as well, big protective screen nets to keep the ball well inside, no problem. Plus the bonus of ladies in shorts leaping about to keep you entertained between rides. Very nice!

Ive always meant to go and have a look round but tbh when I get there I just keep riding out into the countryside instead
