yep, got to feel a bit of sympathy, maybe he can raise some funds via the signed jerseys from Lance to him. He may have been a dork etc, but at least he's come clean, though it's a long way too fall, he'll be a while picking himself up again.

what a disaster! And, lest we forget, he was a pretty good bike rider. Had he just relied on his talent and hard work he'd have made a decent living.

I think with a bit of care he could make a decent living from talking about his decisions. If he had a speech that blended the highs and lows of his career and had a transferable message without being preachy, I think he could be a hit on the after dinner / corporate speaking circuit.

I think there's an appetite for the 'where I went wrong and turned it around' type speech rather than the usual 'me, me, me, aren't I great' type variety.

He would do cycling a favour if he stayed around, spilled the beans, backed it up with evidence and brought the whole sad pantomime out into the public domain.

He didn't act alone - so let's here who helped him, who advised him, who knew, who else was doing it, etc?

We need something similar to a truth a reconciliation court. Hoping cycling will change and these 'bad apples' will quietly disappear is clearly just wishful thinking: Four Spanish cyclists have been caught in the last month or so! These people need to be encouraged to divulge all they know, under oath, in an international court of law. The softly, softly approach to cleaning up cycling is a farce.

Landis has lost all credability, no one can now be sure what he says is true or false so I think he should just go away because being in the forefront of the news is harming cycing not helping.

The four Spanish cyclists, if proven and confirmed as guilty, should get at least four years suspension which in affect means their cycling careers are over. That sort of punishment would have a bigger affect in reducing the drug taking, but human nature being what it is I don't think it will ever be completely eradicated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure about your scale of punishment. There's needs to be both carrot and stick:

1) Full admission and immediate disclosure on being caught, without any recourse to stupid stories and evasive answers about beef, beer, dogs, wife's illness, being the most tested athlete, etc. - results in one year ban.

2) Denial followed by the same full disclosure as in '1', ie: what, where, how, who knew, where were they obtained, who paid for them, who was complicit, who chose to turn a blind eye, etc - would result in a 3 year ban.

3) Continual denial or reluctant admission but no full disclosure of all the facts and circumstances, - then life ban.

I can't accept that the riders act alone, but they are the one's that get clobbered. We need to weed out all their accomplices who make the doping world function.

Fixed.

It would be incredibly convenient for so many people if he'd decided to become a Trappist monk with a 25 year vow of silence. Do you seriously believe that these people deserve protection? Do you honestly believe that someone who has been on the wrong side of the law should never speak out, never confess, never shop their fellow crooks and never be believed?
